ROI: App Subscriptions steadily increased MoM and YoY even through the pandemic. This was due to regular new feature releases combined with codebase improvements and bug fixes.
Problem Discovery: LogTen is an electronic logbook for pilots. After reasearching user behavior using Google and Azure Analytics, I discovered that a lot of useful features and screens were not being used, seen or found by our customers. I cross checked this Quantitative Data with Qualitative User Interviews.
To summarize the outcome of my interviews, the main takeaways were that
- users wanted to find screens in relation to their logbook that they could not find
- settings were scattered throughout the "More" tab of the app and
- screen configuration and global settings were bundled together and unrelated.
Outcome:After re-organizing the app content architecture, separating screen configuration and settings and re-designing core Administration functions,
- App Store Rating went from 4.2 Stars to 4.7 with 8.8k reviews
- Revenue increased significantly in the following quarters after the App Release Update as the new rollout was being highlighted in Marketing materials as well as the App Store Version History Log
- Feedback in our Social Media channels, Customer Surveys, NPS Surveys and In-App Feedback Form was positive and I found that Customer Support was being alleviated from repeat support queries.
- Customers were not asking Customer Support to help them with the same problems that I had uncovered in my Discovery Phase, therefore, Customer Support volumes decreased and response times increased.

Let's chat more about this
This case study covers a small section of the overall User Experience Process that I conducted to comeplete this project. I'd love to share more with you on how I conducted and handled user workshops, team dynamics such as feature design retrospectives, design sprints and weekly knowledge sharing. So send me an invite to chat sometime and let's talk shop.
